We had to pay to get into our dance classes and our peer support groups. We did not volunteer to be there as besides transportation and costume or prep and supplies, we paid to be there. Nobody paid us either, and that’s why peer support trainers put in hundreds or more hours before graduating into better paid positions here required by certification.
Besides training and networking, some of us never find work in peer support. Peer support is something you breathe and do and you might need to stay home to take a break from it as I am needing to break for my health as I missed countless days of sleep in years of a gas leak or 3.
